EU Promotes Selling Bugs As Food In Restaurants, Supermarkets

The socialist globalists running the European Union (EU) have decided that now is the perfect time to introduce edible insects into food markets across their bloc of nations. They’ve been discussing such a move for several years and, like other socialist-based policies implemented since March 2020, they are using coronavirus as one of their excuses to push people toward eating bugs and plant-based foods to replace meat from animals.

The move comes after the European Food Safety Authority, an EU agency, released a study in January proclaiming that mealworms (and potentially other insects) were a safe and viable alternative as a source of protein to eat instead of meat, whether the consumer wishes to eat them whole or after they are ground to powder form. EU officials have even suggested they can be added to baked goods and pastas for those who might be squeamish about eating them.

After stating that they acknowledge that it’s up to consumers to choose whether or not they wish to eat insects, given that some people are allergic to them, the EU then goes on to imply that they will ultimately pressure consumers to eat bugs as a normal part of their meals. Using their typical fearmongering to make a point of obeying their wishes, the EU’s statement on bug consumption states, “…in the twenty-first century due to the rising cost of animal protein, food insecurity, environmental pressures, population growth and increasing demand for protein among the middle classes … alternative solutions to conventional livestock need to be found. The consumption of insects, therefore, contributes positively to the environment and to health and livelihoods.”

If that isn’t enough to scare people into eating insects, market intelligence company Meticulous Research released a study weeks before the EU’s food safety agency claiming coronavirus should be enough to move people toward the protein alternative of insects since the virus can be transmitted from animals to humans. Disruption of food supply chains due to COVID is another virus-based point they highlighted. Of course, the presumption of the virus being spread from animals (mammals in particular) is based on the lie put out by the Chinese Communist Party that COVID-19 started in the Wuhan wet market from a person who ate a bat.

So why should Christians care about world leaders pressuring people to eat insects? After all, didn’t John the Baptist regularly eat locusts? Personally, I would be open to eating insects on occasion depending on what it is and how it’s prepared. Nevertheless, the reason this should concern us is based on New Testament teachings that warn us about people who wish to obsess over food and micromanage our lives to the point of trying to control our diets. Consider these verses:

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: ...

20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;

22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Colossians 2

1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;...

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4

Based on what God’s word says, efforts to try to force us to stop eating meat are a sign in these “latter times” that such people are operating under the influence of seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. They’re attempting to get us to submit to the commandments and doctrines of men as if these are superior to the commandments and doctrines of our true and living God. This is reason enough to reject their efforts. While they attempt to wrap their ideas in a cloak of innocence, the hidden motives behind their aspirations are nothing but hellish. I’m thankful to the Lord that I can eat pork, beef, chicken, turkey, and whatever else he chooses to bless me with and to eat them in moderation, not in gluttonous excess.
