U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt has ruled against Planned Parenthood’s motion for a temporary restraining order to delay Indiana’s cuts to their public funding. The motion was an attempt by the abortion organization to continue getting public funds for its services.
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels signed into law this week a measure that places restrictions on abortions in the state and outlaws abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy unless the woman’s health or life is severely threatened. Judge Pratt denied Planned Parenthood’s motion on the grounds that the state was not given a sufficient amount of time to respond to the motion and Planned Parenthood did not prove they would suffer any critical hardships without a restraining order. The $1.4 million in cuts will now take effect immediately.
The new abortion restrictions will not take effect until July 1 and Judge Pratt said she would rule on Planned Parenthood’s motion for a preliminary injuction before that time. According to Republican State Senator Scott Schneider, “Our new law will allow Planned Parenthood to continue to receive taxpayer funding if they simply stop performing abortions. The decision is now theirs to make.”
This is why it is important to do as Paul commanded in 1 Timothy 2 when he said, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” If we pray for them, sometimes we may come across individuals in power who are righteous and wise in their decisions. I pray that all legal challenges to this law will ultimately fail so precious unborn lives can be saved.

Planned Parenthood should be completely privately funded and not one penny of taxpayer money should be given it, why should any christian have to support the savagery that is abortion.
A side note, while I know that the Catholics have huge holes in their theology, they certainly do come together over this issue of life in the womb, and do a great job of keeping it a relevant issue. Any thoughts about why evangelical and fundamnentalists christians don’t have a united voice as do the catholics? I am opposed to ecumenism but I wouldn’t see a problem with joining the Catholics in their stand for life in the womb, what do you think?

Although it may seem like Catholics are united on this issue, there are some liberal Catholics in favor of abortion. I have mixed feelings about evangelicals joining with Catholics against abortion. One side of me feels that if a ruler is Catholic and acts in favor of the plea of evangelicals against abortion, then that’s great. After all, God used Cyrus and Darius of Medo-Persia and some of the Roman leaders to bless his people in ancient times. On the other hand, part of me feels that Catholics use social issues to promote their false doctrines. And the history of Catholicism is full of priests who rage against abortion in public while in private they encouraged women they impregnated (including nuns) to get abortions. So this is one of those subjects I don’t take a firm stand on.
