“Christian” rapper Andy Mineo and his mentor “Christian” rapper LeCrae recently had an encounter with a man in the process of outwardly pretending to be a woman–what the world calls a transgender. They saved the guy from suicide in New York City. So Mineo has now used that experience of justifiably and heroically saving someone’s life and morphed it into an opportunity to say we should accept “sexual minorities” (really, there’s no such thing) and love on them for who they are. Mineo gives the typical Emergent, Seeker-Sensitive liberal church false gospel stance of accepting the sin alongside the sinner.
Christians should definitely love on the people facing such struggles. That love includes compassionately showing them that their sin can and should be repented of and overcome for Christ’s sake and for their best spiritual interest, i.e. salvation. The truth is that people who identify as LGBTQ are living in rebellion against God with their fornication just like any other fornicator. Paul gave clear instruction from the Lord that if someone who calls themselves a Christian yet clearly shows no desire to live according to Christ’s commands, then we should break off associating with them until they repent (1 Corinthians 5:11). This is to be done after we give them two opportunities to repent (Titus 3:10-11).
However, Mineo (like so many churchgoers) wants us to ignore God’s word and not judge between good and evil. This only serves to weaken churches and the leaven leavens the whole lump. In other words, if a weak churchgoer sees one person getting away with their blatant sin, they will follow suit and start making excuses for indulging in their own. This is yet another example of why I can’t afford to get spiritual lessons from popular Christians in “Christian” entertainment or false gospel televangelism. They really couldn’t care less about God’s word. It’s more important for them to maintain their popularity as they bash real Christians trying to do right by God and their fellow man.
