Judicial Watch discovers State Dept. knew Islamists smuggled in via Mexico since 2004

Al Qaeda in MexicoThe rumors about narco-terror rings in Mexico where drug lords partner with Islamist terrorists to smuggle terrorists into the US have been shown to be true, thanks to Judicial Watch. The organization used a Freedom of Information Act request to acquire State Department documents revealing that the US agency knew at least since 2004 that Al Qaeda leader Adnan G. El Shurkrjumah was in Mexico plotting attacks and smuggling operations with the help of drug cartels.

Despite vehement denials of such occurrences from the Obama administration and the FBI, they had the players in this intricate terrorist game under surveillance. A State Department cable dated September 2004 claimed that a reliable Mexican confidential informant reported that he knew for sure terrorist cell leaders were in Agua Prieta in Mexico’s state of Sonora and that they had successfully smuggled terrorists into the US via Mexico. Judicial Watch’s report goes on to say:

“Many questions remain about the U.S. government’s relationship with Shukrijumah, but last spring JW obtained records from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) that indicate he was a Confidential Source/Informant for the government. Shukrijumah lived in South Florida’s Broward County and graduated from Broward Community College with a degree in computer engineering. Four months before the 9/11 terrorist attacks Shukrijumah fled the U.S. He was one of the suspected actors in a number of planned terror attacks in the U.S., including a plot to simultaneously detonate nuclear devices in several U.S. cities. Convicted terrorist Jose Padilla claimed to have trained with Shukrijumah to blow up U.S. apartment buildings using natural gas explosions.”

Shurkrjumah also plotted terrorist attacks against Oprah’s Harpo Studios and the Sears Tower in Chicago in 2009. In 2010, he helped plot an attack against New York’s subway system, for which he was indicted, but he ended up in Pakistan where he was killed in 2014 by Pakistan’s Army.
