Warning: the following post may have some details that may make your stomach turn.
Parishioners at a Bronx Catholic church are livid over what they allegedly discovered about the priest assigned to their parish. They have filed a lawsuit alleging that since 2003, as leader of their church and another church on Roosevelt Island, he stole approximately $1 million dollars from each of the two parishes by skimming small amounts from their collection plates for years.
They were able to uncover evidence of Peter Miqueli’s thefts, tracking down his ungodly activities which included such things as abusing illegal and prescription drugs and paying a bodybuilding male prostitute to be his “sex master” in bondage sessions. The lawsuit filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court also claims Cardinal Timothy Dolan and the New York Archdiocese were well aware of Peter Miqueli’s activities and may have helped him cover it up.
The scandal came to light when church maintenance workers found stacks of cash in large amounts scattered in Miqueli’s rectory home during the summer of 2014. Eventually, they also discovered he took money from funds that were supposed to be used for a new church organ, bought himself an expensive home, paid for his male lover’s apartment, made his sodomite lover the manager of a church-connected thrift shop, and destroyed financial records to cover it all up.
An ex-girlfriend of the bodybuilding male prostitute submitted evidence to Cardinal Dolan and the archdiocese about the shenanigans going on between the priest and her ex, including texts and emails she kept where her ex mentioned the ungodly trysts.
Although the parishioners uncovered all the proof on their own, the archdiocese itself has claimed that its own investigation has not uncovered any wrongdoing whatsoever from Miqueli and says they are interested in seeing any documentation that backs up the allegations. Miqueli is still in place as their priest and the church members filed the suit with the hopes of forcing him out so they can gain back their reputation with a fresh start.
The lawsuit sounds justifiable, but at the same time this brings up questions. For example, why would you stick around for more abuse when it’s obvious your spiritual leaders care nothing about you? Maybe it’s a reflection of the Catholic belief that you will be damned to hell if you leave the Catholic church. This is just another story highlighting the importance of knowing God for yourself and the Bible for yourself so as not to continue in a spiritually abusive relationship and to avoid being duped by religious fakes. And can you imagine taking the Eucharist from this pervert? No telling where his hands have been.
