Jerusalem, the burdensome stone for the world

Jerusalem view of mosqueJerusalem, among all the places in the world, looks like an insignificant piece of real estate. It makes one wonder what all the fuss is about as the violence there is escalating again with the continual “Palestinian” versus Israel conflicts. Why are the UN, the EU, Saudi Arabia, the US, the Vatican, Jordan, and so many other parties so obsessed with making sure that Jerusalem is never considered Israel’s official capital as they themselves seek to lay claim to it? Outwardly, one would think it’s because Jerusalem is the center of the three most popular religions–Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. But that’s just the superficial reason.

The real reason behind the Jerusalem controversy is the fact God has chosen Jerusalem to be the future earthly headquarters for Jesus Christ’s Millenial Reign with his saints, and Satan and his minions want to do whatever they can to thwart that. All the interested parties I listed above have Jerusalem on their list as a place where their global leader will have his palace/throne by Satan’s influence. They think it’s not okay for Jerusalem to belong to Israel as the Lord God said it does, but it’s perfectly okay for every nation or pagan religious interest to own a piece of it for their own purposes.

This is why Jerusalem and its future third temple will play a huge part of the final peace accord to be established and put into effect by the Antichrist and his global government in the future to set up his abomination of desolation prophesied by Daniel and reiterated by the Lord Jesus (Daniel 9:27; 11:31; 12:11; Matthew 24:15). Jerusalem at that point will be known as Sodom and Egypt (Revelation 11:8)–denoting the type of spiritual as well as social and (im)moral values the people and their one world leader will have.

At that time of great tribulation, a rift will occur between Israel and the Antichrist with his nations of the world to bring about the fulfillment of the following prophecies:

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.

And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

In that day, saith the Lord, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.

And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the Lord of hosts their God. …

In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son… Zechariah 12

In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:

When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. Isaiah 4

Zechariah 13-14 is one of several places in Biblical prophecy that tells how this spiritual purge by God will take place. The Lord will even set up a tabernacle (Isaiah 4:6) and re-establish the feast of tabernacles (Zechariah 14:16-18) during the Millenial Reign. Basically, Satan and his human and devilish minions are getting worked up toward the day when Christ comes to give them a serious butt-kicking. For all their lusting over Jerusalem, it will just go back to its rightful owner.
