Jehovah Witnesses deny Jesus is Jehovah, but their ‘Bible’ doesn’t agree

New World translationSatan has often inspired people to make counterfeits of God’s word. He does it to stir up confusion and the people he uses make little tweaks to the real thing by adding to God’s true words or by subtracting from it. The Jehovah Witness Bible, aka the New World Translation, is one example. But for all the time and energy that is put into trying to create a different gospel, the hubris of those who wrote the New World Translation caused them to make contradictions that expose their lies. For instance, Jehovah’s Witnesses believe Jesus was ‘a god’ but not Almighty God, but their own version of the Bible contradicts their own teaching. The following are a few examples from the 2013 update of their Bible:

This is what Jehovah says, your Repurchaser, Who formed you since you were in the womb: I am Jehovah, who made everything. I stretched out the heavens by myself, And I spread out the earth. Who was with me? Isaiah 44:24. On the one hand, Jehovah is supposed to have been the only Creator, but their version of Colossians 1:15-16 contradicts this–

He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and for him.

If Jehovah says he made everything by himself, yet their version of Colossians says Jesus was the means by which everything was created, aren’t they inadvertently acknowledging Jesus is Jehovah?

■ Look! The true Lord, Jehovah of armies, Is chopping off branches with a terrible crash; The tallest trees are being cut down, And the lofty are brought low. Isaiah 10:33

there is actually to us one God, the Father, from whom all things are and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him. 1 Corinthians 8:6

one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:5-6

In their Bible, Jehovah’s Witnesses acknowledge that Jesus is the one Lord. They also call Jehovah “the true Lord.” If there’s only one Lord and THE true Lord is Jehovah, isn’t this an admission that Jesus and Jehovah are the same person and therefore a contradiction of what they teach?

You must not bow down to another god, for Jehovah is known for requiring exclusive devotion. Yes, he is a God who requires exclusive devotion.

When Jehovah made a covenant with them, he commanded them: “You must not fear other gods, and you must not bow down to them or serve them or sacrifice to them. 2 Kings 17:35

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. John 1:1

But on catching sight of Jesus from a distance, he ran and bowed down to him. Mark 5:6

Whatever you are doing, work at it whole-souled as for Jehovah, and not for men, for you know that it is from Jehovah you will receive the inheritance as a reward. Slave for the Master, Christ. Colossians 3:23-24

So if Christ is the one Lord, and is a god, and Jehovah’s Witnesses are told to slave for Christ (meaning they are devoted to and serving another god), isn’t this going against what Jehovah commanded? Isn’t this a contradiction? Or is this an admission that Christ is Jehovah?

In their efforts to be slick, writers of this Bible have slipped by exposing their own faults. Someone is asleep in the Watchtower.

    1. So how is it that the Watchtower Society on one hand dismisses Jesus is Jehovah, yet on the other hand embraces “scripture” that confirms Jesus is Jehovah? This link is an organized list of New World Translation scripture, but how does one explain the glaring contradictions within its covers? According to the universal law of noncontradiction, when someone claims two opposing ideas as the truth when those ideas cannot both be true, thereby contradicting themselves, then the claim isn’t true, and the person or people who subscribe to the contradictory idea cannot be trusted. Doesn’t this apply to the New World Translation that attempts to deny Jesus is Jehovah, but also gives proof that Jesus is Jehovah?
