S & P stripped France & Austria of their AAA ratings today as well as downgraded the ratings of Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Malta, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Since financial markets are global, this would be cause for concern unless, of course, you haven’t placed your treasures here on earth where they can be corrupted or stolen. However, if you are one who has placed your treasures in heaven where God preserves them from being corrupted or stolen, then cast all your financial cares on him, and I can assure you (based on what the word of God says) that you will be preserved even if all governments of the world go bankrupt.
God has given us his Holy Spirit and if you look at Acts 11:28, the Holy Ghost told Agabus to warn the church about the inevitable financial/agricultural hardships that were coming and to prepare so the church prepared and the believers prospered during that drought. Since God doesn’t play favorites, you can be assured that if he did that for believers in the first century church, he’ll do it for believers in the 21st century church if we will listen and follow his directions on what to do with our money. Here are two more precious promises to keep in mind:
1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1
7Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
8For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17
