conjuring up the dead aided by Toys R Us

Ouija boards manufactured by Hasbro are now being sold at your local Toys R Us stores in two editions.  A glow-in-the-dark edition is stated as being for children eight years old and up while a pink version is touted as being for girls eight and up.

A search at the Toys R Us website shows that the pink edition is rated 3 out of 5 stars by customers while the glow-in-the-dark edition is given 4 out of 5 stars in customer ratings.  One can also read reviews like “Entertaining, fun, interactive,” “I love it! It is awesome,” and “This product is amazing,” to promote its purchase.

The use of Ouija boards, which are a way to speak to the world of evil spirits who masquerade as famous people or dead relatives, is spoken against by God throughout the Bible.  We as Christians should be very concerned when such practices are being promoted to children.  This is nothing more than the practices of necromancy, witchcraft, sorcery, and other evils that God hates and it is the duty of those who love God to speak out against and resist the promotion of such evil.

Playing with ouija boards may be dismissed as harmless fun to unbelievers, but contacting spirits is no game and can lead to serious spiritual consequences including, but not limited to, the possession by an evil spirit of an individual continually involved in it.

10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

11Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

12For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them [pagan nations] out from before thee. [Deuteronomy 18]

19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. [Galatians 5]
