Much to the chagrin of her detractors, Carrie Prejean has retained her Miss California USA crown in a decision made by Donald Trump today. The Donald made the decision that Prejean did not violate her contract with the Miss USA pageant by her current actions of cancelling some appearances scheduled by pageant offials or by her past photos. He also stated that Prejean’s answer to Perez Hilton’s question was very similar to the answer that President Obama has given regarding questions on same sex marriage. A teary-eyed Prejean thanked Trump for his decision, stated that she forgave Hilton and others for their attacks against her, and went on to say she would go forward with her scheduled appearances made by Miss California USA pageant officials while staying true to her personal opinions even if she will not be campaigning against same sex marriage.
In a previous post where I wrote about Miss California, I stated that there would probably be some sort of plot to discredit her and sure enough the seminude photos were released by her haters to soil her reputation. The release of the pictures just proves to those of us who are Christians that Satan always has his children standing at the ready to attack us when we take a stand for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ. The devil is indeed the accuser of the brethren as the Bible states. The photos taken several years ago clearly do not represent who Carrie Prejean is today. I’m grateful to God that he is a God of forgiveness, mercy, and grace by casting our sins into the sea of forgetfulness when we repent. A great number of us Christians have plenty to be ashamed of in our past and Satan is more than happy to dig up our dirt or pull our skeletons out of the closet through our enemies when it suits him. And there are a great number of people who want to tear us down based on our past sins. But thanks be to God that he no longer holds our past against us when we genuinely ask for his forgiveness!
In the midst of Prejean’s photos being released, pageant officials attacked her by claiming she did not represent the citizens of California with her views and media appearances. But the truth is that the majority of Californians voted in favor in Proposition 8 in California which kept gay marriage illegal. So Prejean, while representing the majority of Californians, did not represent the views of the Miss California USA pageant officials, and this is really what they were objecting to. This whole incident should be a wake-up call to those of us who speak out against the evils of the gay lifestyle. It clearly shows us that gay rights activists will try to violate the rights of others to get their way, even if it means they have to use underhanded tactics or try to ruin people’s reputations.

Satan wants us to stay silent and “tolerant” in the midst of moral corruptness. However, God’s people cannot remain silent, like Lot who could not tolerate the sins of those living in Sodom and Gomorrah, we must stand up for what is right and good and just, for as the Scripture says:
“…and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.”

Amen to that, Bret!
This whole incident reminds me of the song out by Fireflight called “Unbreakable”:
“Where are the people that accused me?
The ones who beat me down and used me. …
Now I am unbreakable–it’s unmistakeable
No one can touch me
Nothing can stop me!”
I hope her resilience in this situation remains steady.

“Like Lot who could not tolerate the sins of those living in Sodom and Gomorrah”
Such an upright and moral man, who offered to give his daughters to the crowd of sexual deviants…
Sorry, but if I want sexual morality, I’m not getting it from the Old Testament.

morse,
You’re so typical of atheists who are so bent on trying to find fault with the Bible that you overlook the truth.
First of all, the beautiful thing about the Bible is that it shows that all of us as humans, including those of us who follow God, are flawed. But, even in the midst of our being flawed and just downright messed up, God is willing to welcome us if we acknowledge our evil and are willing to turn our backs on our evil. No one’s perfect, including you. At least the writers of the Bible are honest enough to reveal how flawed we really are without sugarcoating the truth.
Secondly, if you read the whole scripture of Genesis 19, you’ll see that Lot promised he would bring out his daughters to the perverts and claimed that his daughters were virgins. We find out a few verses later that his daughters were married because Lot went to his two sons-in-law to try to persuade them to leave Sodom with the rest of the family. It was never his intention to deliver his daughters to them. Lot was just stalling the perverts to buy some time. That’s why he lied to the sodomites about bringing his virgin daughters (who weren’t virgins) out to them as he tried to shut the door in the sodomites’ faces.
Your atheistic deceptions have blinded you to the truth. If you’re not willing to get your sexual mores from the Bible, which shows us the benefits of sexual purity, is it safe to say you’ll get your sexual morals from atheistic perverts like the late Alfred Kinsey–as the majority of Western society does? He’s part of the reason why STDs really blew up in the 20th century. Maybe that’s what you prefer.

Ha. I love it. Harry, you sure do know how to tell it straight with definite precision. Goodness, read people, the whole story and not the piece that benefits your deception.
“Sorry, but if I want sexual morality, I’m not getting it from the Old Testament.”
And exactly what do you know about morals, when your train of thought is immoral.

Prejean-Miss Hypocrite
Carrie Prejean, the Miss California contestant, was correct about homosexuality! It is mortal filth
and condemned by God’s Word…but Prejean poses semi nude and topless EXPOSING HER
BREASTS and revealing the bottom of her buttocks…then lied about it…and then she parades
her body around in the Miss California Pageant EXPOSING HER PARTIAL BREASTS and
buttocks in a sexual immoral swimsuit before the world! She is 100% a HYPOCRITE and
she does NOT represent Jesus Christ nor a Christian!!
Jesus said it this way, “Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery
with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better
for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into Hell.” [Mt. 5:28,29]

You make some very valid points, Dane. She was definitely wrong for posing for the photos. But I’m not sure she lied about it. She acknowledged her part in it and admitted to using bad judgment. And I agree that as a Christian, she should show modesty when participating in pageants when it comes to swimsuits. However, the semi-nude photos are part of her past and she has expressed her remorse, according to James Dobson. I believe at this point, what she does in the future will reveal if she’s sincere, so I’m not ready to still hold her past against her.
I’ve done a lot of wrong stuff in my past and have been hypocritical myself plenty of times. I trust that when I’ve repented, that God is not still holding those things against me. As I expect God’s forgiveness and mercy for my wrongs, I’m willing to extend the same to others, not holding their pasts against them if they show they’ve changed.
What Carrie Prejean has experienced I’m sure has been a sobering, self-examining process for her. The question she was asked at the pageant could very well have been her wake-up call from God. Time will tell. But I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. And I bet that if the media had not hyped up her answer to Perez Hilton’s question, she would’ve faded into the background as all runner-ups in such pageants do–and those photos would never have been released. So I think it’s obvious she is being persecuted for her answer and I believe she has handled it well considering the situation.
When I think about her situation, I’m reminded of saints in the Bible who God used in spite of themselves. Jephthah hung out on a regular with wicked men (Judges 11:3), but God used him to deliver Israel. Samson was a whoremongering fornicator, but God used him mightily to defeat the Philistines (Judges 16:1). Both of these men were mentioned in the “hall of faith” in Hebrews even though their lives were a bit messy.
I’m also reminded of Peter who many years into his ministry was confronted by Paul for his hypocrisy when he snubbed Gentiles to please the Jews (Galatians 2:11-14) but that didn’t negate all he had done or was going to do for the Lord. John Mark proved to be unreliable in the ministry and forsook it for awhile and Paul rejected him, causing a rift between him and Barnabas (Acts 15:37-39), but years later Paul considered Mark “profitable” to his ministry (2 Timothy 4:11).
I’m not trying to justify Carrie’s sins, but I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that she has represented well the Christian position against gay marriage on the world stage. The way everything has worked in her favor in the midst of persecution can’t be anything but the hand of God, in my opinion.
