Miss California–beauty, brains, and virtue too

I am very impressed with Carrie Prejean, Miss California, who believes she did not get the Miss USA crown because of her views on gay marriage.  I find it very inspiring when a Christian, thrust in the spotlight and attacked for their views, handles it all with as much grace, poise, and courage as she has done.   She was in Washington, D.C. today to star in an ad sponsored by the conservative group the National Organization for Marriage and to hold a press conference for the debut of the ad as part of a campaign to defend true marriage.

Pageant officials pooh-poohed her decision to travel the country holding interviews in defense of her views.  They released a statement quoted in the NY Daily News which said, “”We are deeply saddened Carrie Prejean has forgotten her platform of the Special Olympics, her commitment to all Californians, and solidified her legacy as one that goes beyond the right to voice her beliefs and instead reveals her opportunistic agenda.”  But, of course, her detractors, in their criticism of her, conveniently overlooked the fact that this subject was thrust upon her when she was asked at the pageant about her views on gay marriage.  If they wanted pageant participants to avoid involvement in such a polarizing topic, then they should not have allowed anyone to ask any pageant participants questions about gay rights.

I’m sure Miss Prejean had no intentions whatsoever of being placed in the position to openly express her views.  Her intentions, like any other participant, was to do her best in all categories of pageantry in order to win the crown.  However, as Christians, no matter what arena we try to do our best in, Satan and his evil angels are always lurking about somewhere in the vicinity to try to knock us off our game.  The question she was asked by Perez Hilton, I believe, was a devilish attempt to try to make Miss California look bad in an effort to show that Christians, because of their biblical views, are not worthy to receive any high accolades in the world over unbelievers.  So she was awarded the No. 2 spot.  But isn’t it great how God works things out?  In the midst of the devil trying to put her down, God exalted her because she gave him the glory by telling the truth regarding gay marriage.  Satan meant to do her harm, but God worked it out for her good and for his glory.

She went to the pageant for one purpose, but God used Satan to turn that purpose around into a totally different purpose that has ultimately served to embolden us Christians to stand up for what’s right so the name of the Lord will be exalted.  Hallelujah!  God has shown us who the true winner of the pageant is.  And because Miss Prejean decided to do the right thing for God with the whole world watching, she is more well-known than Miss USA herself.  Miss California’s situation is living proof that God is true to his word, for he tells us “…whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” [Luke 14:11]

Since she has gained such prominence in the press, I know that the devil will try to attack her in some crafty way to try to bring her down, but I pray that Carrie will stay strong in the Lord, that she will be filled with his wisdom, knowledge, understanding and spiritual discernment, and that she will remain humble so that every fiery dart from the devil will be extinguished by the Lord’s protective hedge around her, in Jesus’ name.

    Amen to that!

I am also very impressed by Carrie Prejean and that she stood up for what she believes even if she knew it’s not a popular view in today’s sinful World.

It also goes to show how facist actually liberalism can be! I mean what’s wrong with having a strong opinion in a matter like this? We all have a view on gay marriage and some are for it, some are against it. The democratic thing would be to accept that. But it seems for liberals there’s only one right answer to this – their own. If you don’t echo that you are handicapped in their World. I call that fascist.

You make a good point that if they didn’t want the participants to get into such touchy topics then why did they ask her? I am sure they expected her to give the “politically correct” answer to further propagate gay marriage. But that’s not what happened and all of a sudden they became nervous. :)

I am very happy that God turned around this story and made Carrie a winner in all this. I am writing from Europe and I have no idea (and I don’t even care) who won that Beauty Contest. But I know Carrie’s name now. :) God bless her!

Isn’t that the truth Harry. We never know when God is going to put us on the spot, a moment in time, when he challenges us to stand up against Satan.

This was Carrie Prejean’s day and she passed with flying colors, victorious over our enemy. She may have lost a title that was important to the world but the title that God our Father is going to give her is her name written in the Book of Life. And on that same day, she caused a person’s name to be blotted out!

“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” Revelation 3:5

Many have made fun of blonde headed women, having utlimate beauty and saying they are brainless, air-headed and rely on their looks to get them through life. But this one blonde headed beauty marked a day in history. Not only did she stand up for what is right, she stood up for God our Father and His righteousness and did it with astounding intelligence. She did it with God’s Holy Spirit.

A round of applause. God’s children are everywhere and we are all going to have our day to stand up for God and our Lord Jesus Christ. We do not know the day or time but let us be ready when the time shall come.

Carrie Prejean is a first in a long time to do the unexpected. To do the ‘Righteous’ thing. She’s a winner, a fine role model and one we should remember as an example of what to do when Satan puts us on the spot.

Congratulations Carrie. Way to ‘Bring it On!’.
