Lord, I thank you and give you glory for supplying me with spiritual armor to wear in my stand against the devil, his spiritual companions, and his wicked devices. Give me the wisdom to use the armor skillfully.
As your word commands, I will place your truth around my center like a belt to give me support in preparation for any action that’s necessary in my spiritual battles. I know your truth is what preserves me and that lies can only serve to weaken me. Your paths that you want me to walk in are paved with truth.
I am determined to let your righteousness protect my heart like a breastplate. Because I believe in you, you have counted my belief in you as righteousness. I know I can’t count on my own acts of righteousness since they are filthy rags in your sight. My righteousness must begin with you. Lead me in your righteousness, Lord, because I have enemies who would rejoice in seeing me fall.
As I walk in your paths, I have placed on my feet the preparation of your gospel of peace. I want to be instant in season and out of season when it comes to sharing the gospel, prepared to tell it at a moment’s notice as you guide me through the day. There are plenty of people who will cross my path that need to hear it. Help me to be alert when those opportunities come and to speak it boldly with all confidence.
When I share your gospel and live according to your truth in righteousness, I know it will upset Satan so much he will hurl all kinds of spiritual weapons at me. That’s why I’m carrying the shield of faith. With it I’ll ward off his blows. No matter how heated his attacks may become, or how difficult the situation looks, my faith in you will stay strong for I walk by faith, not by what things look like. I know without it, it’s impossible to please you. Faith in you is what keeps my heart pure and it is the just who live by faith.
I have placed the helmet of salvation on to protect my mind. I want my mind focused on things that are lovely, pure, true, just, honest, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy because my pure thoughts will lead to pure actions. You will keep me in perfect peace when my mind is on you.
I’m carrying the sword of the Spirit, which is your word. It’s quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword giving it such precision to pierce what needs to be pierced so I can use it to discern my own thoughts and intents. It also helps me discern the actions of others for me to act or react properly to them.
Finally, Father, my determination is to be in constant contact with you in prayer. We are partners together in this walk and good partnerships require ongoing communication. Thanks again for your armor. I know when I wear the armor, I’m wearing the Lord Jesus Christ, which helps me resist the lusts of my flesh.
